How to Remove a Singer Stylist Sewing Machine From a Cabinet or Table

The 70's Stylist machines were sewing machines that did basic straight stitches as well as zig zag stitches. If you picked up a used one or got one as a hand-me-down, you may need to replace hardware or get to the motor if it is in need of repair. If it comes attached to a fixed cabinet, it will need to be removed before work can be done. Here is how to remove the sewing machine from an attached cabinet, then replace it once it has been repaired.

1. Unplug the machine and unit from the power source.

2. Tilt the sewing machine backward until it rests on its hinges. There will be a plug. Remove that from its slot, which may be screwed or clipped down.

3. Loosen the set-in screws with a flat-head screwdriver by turning in a counter-clockwise manner. These are the actual screws holding the machine on the fixed hinges, thus holding the machine in place.

4. While the machine is still on its side, lift straight up and off the two pins.

5. Repair or replace the machine as needed.

6. Loosen the set-in screws and align the pins pointing upward on the cabinet with the slots on the machine. Tilting again on its side, slice the machine over the pins.

7. Tighten the screws by turning clockwise using a flathead screwdriver.
